Key Outcomes

The AUHLs has accomplished several noteworthy milestones, such as: • Obtaining accreditation in accordance with ISO 15198 standards for Chemistry, Hematology, Immunology, and molecular Biology labs. • Modernizing the Alexandria University Hospitals Central Lab with state-of-the-art equipment. • Integrating the Torrent S5 sequencer device into the Cancer Genetics Unit, which was funded and established by the STDF funding project • Upgrading the Immunology Unit through the higher education labs accreditation projects. • Starting the Therapeutic Unit of University Blood Banks to introduce the Clinical Regenerative Medicine applications (PRP, Fibrin Glue, Plasmapheresis, stem cell research….) • Creating The 1st specialized COVID19 lab to aid in community outreach, research, and testing throughout the pandemic. These accomplishments highlight the lab's dedication to excellence, creativity, and promptness in providing cutting-edge medical services and meeting urgent demands in diagnosis and treatment across multiple specialized areas.

List planned upgrades/expansions of the "Unit"
Expand the scope of services provided by AUHLs to meet the growing global demands for high quality laboratory services and to stop the outsourcing of Egyptian samples to labs outside Egypt. Introduce new unique laboratory investigations and techniques do not present in Egypt like: • Establishment of Cell and Gene Therapy Center for manufacturing of cancer cell and gene therapies (CAR-T, CAR-NK, TILs). • Establishment of the 1st Placental Biobank in Egypt associated with the manufacturing of Placental derivatives (Cord blood PRP, Amniotic membrane grafts, Cord blood stem cells, placental extracts)

• Whole genome and Exome sequencing • Genomic and chemical Neonatal screening for metabolic disorders. • Manufacturing Biomaterials as Nano fat, BMAC and stromal vascular fraction (SVF).
